The Santa Scramble 5K has a very nice route that runs along the Farmington Canal Trail originating at the parking lot across the street from the entrance to the Quinnipiac University York Hill Campus, and heading south (towards Hamden) for about 1.55 miles (just north of where Hamden Hill Drive crosses over the path). The route does a U-turn and then heads back. There is an incline/dip in the trail about 0.25 miles from the start, but otherwise, the trail is basically level and straight, and totally off the road, so no traffic.

I would guess that this will be a pretty fast route, about as good as the route for the Platt Tech 5K in Milford. This is a race worth considering as a lead up to the Christopher Martin 5K on Dec. 11th.

The weather on Sunday, Dec. 4th will be ideal, in the low 50′s, and dry, so this may be the last weekend to have a good weather run before we need to get out the leggings and trail shoes! Looking forward to it.

The course is an out/back route, so I only mapped out the first half. The second half is back along the same route.
